VISION

To make the students alive to the richness, range and vitality of English Language and Literature. To provide the most ideal pedagogical inputs for literary studies from Undergraduate to post doctoral level with the best worldwide.

MISSION

The English Department strengthens the liberal education of Students by developing a deepened understanding of language and literacy, the value of critical reading and effective writing, and the richness of literature, past and present.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

• Educate students in both the artistry and utility of the English language through the study of literature.
• Familiarity with terms, practices and theoretical foundations of the disciplines.
• Development of the reading, analytical and critical skills of the disciplines.
• Ability to communicate correctly and effectively within and about the disciplines.
• Enable the students to read well, to write well and to think well and to provide them with appropriate knowledge in literature.
• Make oral presentations, Group discussions and face any kind of Interviews,
• Ability to interpret Literary Texts.

OUTCOMES

1. Express themselves effectively in a variety of forms.
2. Support interpretive claims about a variety of texts.
3. Identify the salient features of literary text from a broad range of English literary periods.
4. Employ knowledge of literary traditions to produce imaginative writings.
5. Use research to assist in problem solving.
